Touch of Gloss has been contracted to paint the Camper Volvo 70 project managed by Emirates Team New Zealand.
Designed by ETNZ's in house team of Marcello Botin and structural engineer Giovanni Belgrano, and built at the world renown Cookson Boats, the finish is in Durepox in 5 striking colours that wrap around the entire hull. The request is for a Super-yacht finish for a Grand Prix round the world race yacht.
Yachting Developments have launched the 30 metre, Bill Dixon designed, composite sloop this month (May 2011). Touch of Gloss were contracted to fully fair and paint the Hull Topsides and Superstructure.
Silvertip was designed for the former owner of Imagine, another Dubois design, however this time he wanted a boat with greater performance while maintaining exceptional comfort and cruising capacity. Silvertip's concept in style was rewarded as she won the prestigious Super Yacht Society "Best Sailing Yacht" and Showboats International "Best Sailing Yacht" awards in her class for 2001- the first yacht ever to win both awards.
The s/v Mystery had a major refit over the winter of 2007. TOG painted the Hull Topsides, Superstructure, Mast and Boom and antifouling. In addition to the painting a full engineering, electrical and hydraulic refit took place along with the teak decks being re-caulked and sanded.
Prozac was designed by the late Beau Birdsall. Now owned by former R.N.Z.Y.S. Commodore Richard Endean he decided it was time for a makeover.
Prozac is another vessel plagued with the gloss topcoat delaminating from the undercoat. This is common amongst boats painted 10+ years ago with certain products. In order to apply new coatings all the delaminating paint need to be removed and the old undercoat sealed off with an epoxy primer ready for the new undercoat.
Shandor is a 50m Expedition vessel that had an extensive refit ½ way through a world cruise. Constructed in steel Shandor exhibited typical corrosion/rust problems and panel deflection in the forward sections of the hull. 2 weeks of sandblasting followed by priming, filling and fairing were required prior to the new coatings being applied.
